The first model of Tata Tiago was launched three years ago in 2016 and it replaced the Indica Vista. Indica Vista was infamous for its unrefined engine, low mileage, high maintenance cost and noise and vibrations. But with the introduction of Tata’s new ‘Revotron’ and ‘Revotorq’ engines in Tata Tiago, Tata has solved all the problems. Tiago has a very powerful and fuel efficient engine, good ride and handling and so many new features. For the year 2019, Tata has introduced new XZ Plus Dual Tone variant which has dual tone colors from outside as well as inside.
The On-road price of Tiago starts from 5.5 lakhs for basic petrol XE variant which goes upto around 7 lakhs for top end XZ Plus Dual Tone variant. We will discuss only about petrol variants as manufacturing of diesel cars will be shutting down soon.
Engine:
This car has 1199cc 3 cylinder Revotron petrol engine which produces 83bhp of power. It has a good fuel efficiency of around 23kmpl. This is the main reason why this car is so popular in India. There are no noise and vibrations like Tata Vista and the engine is so refined. Tata has given two driving modes for this car, i.e. ‘Eco’ and ‘City’. In the ‘Eco’ mode, mileage of the car is increased but the acceleration becomes low. In the ‘City’ mode, the car focuses on delivering more acceleration. You can switch between these two modes by just pressing the buttons. So if you want to have high mileage, it’s better to stick with the ‘Eco’ mode.
Ride Quality:
The best thing about this car is its ride and handling. It provides you a very good ride quality and its handling is just like a mini sports car. This car remains stable at high speeds and the driver feels confident at any speed. This car is a fun to drive and has a very good acceleration due to its powerful engine. There is so much space in this car and the rear seat is bigger as compared to Alto K10 and three average sized people can sit comfortably in the rear.
Safety:
As we know Tata Cars have a very solid build quality and strong chassis, Tata has improved the strength of the body of this car to improve further safety. It also has Anti-lock-Braking system with EBD in each and every variant to prevent it from slipping and losing control. There are also parking sensors at the rear.
Features:
Tata has loaded Tiago with features such as touch screen infotainment system, Bluetooth connectivity, height adjustable steering and eight speakers. The 7 inch touch screen infotainment system and 8 speakers are available on only top-end XZ Plus variant. You will get 4 speakers on XZ variant without touchscreen infotainment system. Also, there is no reverse camera in any variant. Projector headlamps are also available only on top-end XZ Plus variant.
So this car has every feature that you require. It actually has features from higher segment cars at a very low price and this car is very reliable due to its new refined engine, comfort and features. This car will be a very good choice to buy.
