Honda has launched new fifth generation City in Thailand with a lot of changes in it. It has got sportier look than before and Honda has changed its engine for the first time. It has got new 1.0 liter turbocharged petrol engine that produces 122bhp of power and 173Nm of torque. The previous generation 1.5 liter petrol engine was able to produce only 117bph of power and 145Nm of torque. Honda claims it has a better fuel economy of 23.8kmpl. This shows that Honda has worked on this engine a lot and this model will be launched in India next year. Currently, fourth generation City is available in India and if you are planning to buy a City, then you should wait for this fifth generation model.
Not only the engine, but Honda has worked on its exteriors and interiors though. It looks really sporty and has newly designed LED projector headlamps and tail lamps. There are all-new black interior and an 8-inch touchscreen music system and there are changes in the design of the instrument cluster also. Both the exteriors and interiors look more striking than before.
There is a new 7-speed CVT transmission that is designed to give a better fuel economy and this can also be used as a manual transmission with the help of paddle shifters under the steering and that gives it the feel of a sports car.
There is enhanced safety with so many features like 6 Airbags, Hill Start Assist, Emergency Stop Signal which blinks all the indicators while sudden braking and new G-Force control technology for body which increases its rigidity.
This model will be available in India soon and there might be some changes in it as compared to the Thailand variant. This car will be designed according to BS6 emission norms and we hope Indian variant will get this 1.0 liter engine option.
